ScanCraft Privacy Policy

ScanCraft for Android (com.craftscans) · by appcraftstudio · Effective 19 September 2026

In short

Who we are

ScanCraft is made by appcraftstudio (“we”, “us”). If you have a question about this policy or your data, email craftconsole88@gmail.com.

What stays on your phone

Everything you scan, import, edit or export is stored in ScanCraft’s private storage on your phone. This includes page photos, documents, PDFs you create, and your settings. We have no copy of any of it. Normal scanning, cropping, filters and editing all happen on the phone.

Uninstalling ScanCraft deletes everything it stored on your phone.

What leaves your phone, and why

1. Ultra scan pages

Ultra scan turns a scanned page into editable text. When you start it, each page image is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to the ScanCraft server. The server passes it to Google’s Gemini API, which reads the text and layout. The result comes back to your phone, where the editable page is built.

The ScanCraft server does not store page images or their text; it only passes them through. Google processes the image to provide this service under the Gemini API Terms of Service. Pages you don’t send through Ultra scan never leave your phone.

2. Your Ultra scan balance

Ultra scan is paid in page credits: every install gets a few free pages, and you can buy more. So that your balance survives restarts and reinstalls, and so free pages can’t be claimed over and over, the app creates an install ID. It is a one-way hash (SHA-256) of the device identifier Android provides to this app. It cannot be turned back into that identifier. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number or Google account.

Our server stores, against that install ID:

3. Purchases

Purchases are made and paid for through Google Play. We never see your card, UPI or other payment details, your name or your email. Google Play gives us a purchase token and order ID. Our server checks these with Google (the Google Play Developer API) before adding credits. It also checks with Google daily for refunded purchases, so their credits can be removed. Google’s handling of your payment is covered by the Google Payments Privacy Notice.

4. Fonts

When you pick a font in the editor that isn’t already on your phone, ScanCraft downloads it once from Google Fonts (fonts.gstatic.com). Only the font file is requested; no document content is sent. As with any web request, Google receives your IP address.

Who we share data with

We do not sell, rent or trade your data, and we do not use it for advertising. Data is handled only by the service providers that make the features work:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Ultra scan page images and their text are not stored on our server. Your install ID, balance and credit activity are kept while you may still use your credits, which never expire, or until you ask us to delete them. Purchase records may be kept longer where tax or accounting law requires it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or the EU GDPR give you further rights: to access, correct or erase your data, and to complain. Contact us at the address above to use any of them.

Security

Data sent between the app and our server is encrypted with HTTPS. The server and its database are reachable only through the app’s own requests and our Cloudflare account. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we store to the minimum above.

Children

ScanCraft is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used Ultra scan and want their records removed, contact us.

Where data is processed

Google and Cloudflare run servers in many countries, so Ultra scan pages and server records may be processed outside your country. Both providers use industry-standard protections.

Changes to this policy

If we change how ScanCraft handles data, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
