Privacy Policy
Exam Paper Maker is made by appcraftstudio. This policy explains what the app does with your information. It is short, because the app is built to need very little.
There is no account
The app has no sign-up and no login. We never ask for your name, your email address, your phone number, your location or your contacts, and we have no way to learn them. Nothing you do in the app is tied to your identity, because we do not have it.
Photographs you ask the app to read
When you press Read, the photographs you selected are sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which passes them to Google's Gemini service. Gemini converts the questions in the picture into text and sends the text back. That is the only thing the photograph is used for.
- The photograph is not stored on our server, before or after reading.
- It is not used to train any model.
- Photographs you have not asked the app to read never leave your phone.
Google's handling of the image is governed by the Google APIs Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Our server runs on Cloudflare Workers, so Cloudflare carries the traffic; it is covered by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Your question papers stay on your phone
The papers you make, the questions in them, the school and class details you type, and the PDFs you export are stored on your device only. We cannot see them and they are never uploaded. Uninstalling the app deletes them, so export anything you want to keep before you do.
What our server keeps
Only what is needed to count the pages you have used and honour what you have bought.
| A random identifier | Created the first time you open the app. It is a random number, not linked to you and not an advertising identifier. It is how the server knows which balance is yours without knowing who you are. |
|---|---|
| Your page balance | How many pages you have left, and how many were free or bought. |
| A fingerprint of each page already read | A one-way hash of the image, so that reading the same photograph again is never charged twice. It cannot be turned back into the picture, and the picture itself is not kept. |
| Purchases | The order reference Google Play gives us, so a purchase can be credited once and restored if you change phone. |
| Daily totals | How many pages the service read each day, across everybody. Just numbers — nothing that points at a person. |
We do not store your network address. When the app first registers, your address is used to work out how many free pages to give and is immediately turned into a one-way fingerprint that cannot be reversed into an address. That fingerprint is deleted the following day.
Payments
Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card number, your UPI ID or your billing address — only Google's confirmation that a purchase happened, so we can add the pages. Refunds and payment problems are handled by Google Play under its own privacy policy.
Permissions the app asks for
| Photos and media | To let you choose a picture of a question page you have already taken. |
|---|---|
| Camera | The app opens your phone's own camera app to take a picture. It does not hold a camera permission of its own and cannot use the camera on its own. |
| Internet | To send a page for reading, and to check your balance. |
Children
The app is made for teachers and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices
- Delete everything on your phone — uninstall the app.
- Delete what our server holds — email us and we will remove your identifier, your balance and your page fingerprints. Note that this also removes any pages you have bought and not yet used.
- Ask what we hold — email us and we will tell you.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
